After a string of six wins, Mechanicsville's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Deep Run Wildcats by a score of 4-3. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mechanicsville's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Deep Run, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Mechanicsville and Deep Run should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Mustangs (ranked fourth) will meet Patrick Henry (ranked 172nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Deep Run will face off against Hermitage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (39 vs. 298).
