Basketball Recap: Whitko Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Davin Day and Ethan Yates + How To Watch

Whitko lost against Wawasee back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Wildcats took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.

Despite the loss, Whitko had strong showings from Ethan Yates, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 14 points, and Davin Day, who shot 83% from the field en route to 12 points. Thanks to that strong game, Yates now owns an excellent 45.7% shooting accuracy. Daton Day also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Wawasee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nolan Holzwart, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Stephen Akase, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 15 points and three blocks.

Whitko's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Wawasee, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season.

Whitko and Wawasee will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Wildcats are set to face off against their familiar foe Lewis Cass at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wawasee will square off against rival Warsaw at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
