Softball Game Preview: New Home Leopards vs. Sundown Roughnecks

New Home hasn't had much luck against Sundown recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Leopards will welcome the Roughnecks at 5:00 p.m. New Home has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

New Home managed to slip by Post the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Leopards lost 18-5 to the Antelopes on Saturday.

Khyler Rodriguez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Madi Ford was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Sundown had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. Considering the Roughnecks have won 16 matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sundown pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for New Home, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
