Soccer Game Preview: Everett vs. Marysville Getchell

The Everett Seagulls will head out to take on Marysville Getchell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Everett came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Monroe, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, Everett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Monroe are ranked 22nd).

Everett's goal came courtesy of Ricardo Ortega, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marysville Getchell). Everything went their way against Stanwood on Tuesday as they made off with a 7-1 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Everett has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5-2 record this season. As for Marysville Getchell, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.

Everything went Everett's way against Marysville Getchell when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Everett made off with a 5-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seagulls since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
