Preview: Round Mountain Knights vs. Indian Springs Thunderbirds
The Round Mountain Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Indian Springs Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Round Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four on Friday.
Last Friday, Round Mountain faced Beatty in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Round Mountain put the hurt on Beatty with a sharp 34-14 win. The victory was just what Round Mountain needed coming off of a 34-8 loss in their prior game.
Round Mountain can attribute much of their success to Marquez Zamora, who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Jake Sanora was in the mix as well, providing Round Mountain with two touchdowns.
Round Mountain's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Eberle Schultz and Gavin Banks who racked up five sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Indian Springs unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 62-14 loss at the hands of Tonopah.
Round Mountain's victory bumped their season record to 4-3 while Indian Springs' loss dropped theirs to 4-1.
Everything came up roses for Round Mountain against Indian Springs in their previous meeting back in September of 2018 as the squad secured a 62-0 victory. Will Round Mountain repeat their success, or does Indian Springs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
