Basic has gone a perfect 10-0 against Liberty recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wolves will welcome the Patriots at 3:30 p.m. The last three games Basic has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Basic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Arbor View, who was ranked second at the time (Basic was ranked third). The Wolves came out on top in a nail-biter against the Aggies on Friday, sneaking past 4-2. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Aggies: they've now won eight in a row.
Derek Wenzel looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Ace Sapp was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andruw Giles, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Liberty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let Silverado get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Patriots needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Dylan Moehring tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grant Kelly, who fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Liberty's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 10-12 when he doesn't). Austin Pepe was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Silverado only posted an OBP of .333.
Basic's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Liberty, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Basic hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Basic was able to grind out a solid victory over Liberty in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, winning 8-4. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
