LAVEEN, Ariz. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
Fairfax (Laveen, Ariz.) held on for a 14-7 victory over
Tolleson (Ariz.) on Saturday. The difference for the Stampede was that
Kevin Webb ran for a touchdown.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Kenneth Steele, the Wolverines went into halftime with a 7-0 lead. The Stampede took the lead for good with a Webb touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Tolleson's only touchdown came on a 42-yard run by Steele in the first quarter.
Fairfax had given up an average of 15.7 points prior to the contest. Tolleson's seven points were well below its season average of 31.7 per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 59-7 win for FHS.
The loss comes after Tolleson defeated Browne 33-0 last week. The loss ended Tolleson's two-game winning streak.
