Recap: Evansville Memorial Tigers vs. North Harrison Cougars
The Evansville Memorial Tigers entered their tilt with the North Harrison Cougars with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Evansville Memorial came out on top against North Harrison by a score of 53-42 on Saturday. Given Evansville Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while North Harrison is ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Evansville Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Avery Kelley led the charge by scoring 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Kelley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Myla Browning, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Despite the defeat, North Harrison saw an underclassman step up: Olivia Brown scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Goldman, who scored seven points along with four blocks.
Evansville Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for North Harrison, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evansville Memorial on the road again on Thursday and play against Evansville Reitz at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for North Harrison, they will take on Madison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
