Baseball Game Preview: Frederick Douglass Broncos vs. West Jessamine Colts

The Frederick Douglass Broncos will head out on the road to square off against the West Jessamine Colts at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Frederick Douglass' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so West Jessamine's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Thursday, Frederick Douglass got the win against Peachtree Ridge by a conclusive 9-3.

Meanwhile, West Jessamine waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Redhounds.

Hayden Peters was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mavrick Napier, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: West Jessamine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Frederick Douglass' victory was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average this season. As for West Jessamine, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12-1.

Everything went Frederick Douglass' way against West Jessamine when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Frederick Douglass made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Broncos repeat their success, or do the Colts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
