Football Recap: Lakeland Comes Up Short

After soaring to 40 points the game before, Lakeland was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They came up short against the Garrett Railroaders, falling 28-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lakers of the 50-26 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Brayden Nusbaum went supernova For Garrett., rushing for 143 yards and two scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Those 143 rushing yards gave Nusbaum a new career-high.

Lakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Garrett, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeland will venture away from home to face off against Angola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' defense has only allowed 13.8 points per game this season, so the Lakers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Garrett, they will head out on the road to square off against Eastside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
