Softball Recap: Dwight Trojans vs. Gardner-South Wilmington Panthers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dwight had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top against the Gardner-South Wilmington Panthers by a score of 7-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Dwight.

Madi Ely spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Megan Livingston was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Taylor Heath was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

On Gardner-South Wilmington's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Simms, who went 2-for-2 with two RBI.

The win got Dwight back to even at 14-14. As for Gardner-South Wilmington, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-12.
