Basketball Recap: Cumberland Takes a Loss

After flying high against Charles City last Wednesday, Cumberland came back down to earth. The Cumberland Dukes came up short against the Appomattox County Raiders on Thursday, falling 58-33.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Appomattox County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ji Ferguson, who posted ten points along with five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Chavis, who went 7 of 16 en route to 16 points.

Cumberland's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Appomattox County, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Cumberland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 55-51 victory against Randolph-Henry on the 6th. Appomattox County has also already played their next contest, a 64-47 win against Amherst County on the 10th.
