Softball Recap: Foran Victorious

Foran and Mercy pushed the score to 17-4 the last time they played Mercy, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Lions came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 3-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

Not much got past Abigail Corris, who gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Mercy off the board. Corris has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ariella Diorio was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

Foran's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Mercy, they moved to 13-6 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Foran will head out to square off against West Haven at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Mercy, they will square off against North Haven at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
