Baseball Recap: Hayfield Takes a Loss

Hayfield was the 9-7 winner over Mabel-Canton when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Vikings fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 7-5 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 20, 2024.

Hayfield moved to 10-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Mabel-Canton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hayfield will host Blooming Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mabel-Canton, they will face off against Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
