Eastern Greene had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-10 to make it five. They fell 8-3 to the Eminence Eels. If the Thunderbirds were looking for revenge after losing 12-6 to the Eels when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Charley Paurazas was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ashlynn Bellman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Grace Deckard, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
As for Eminence, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games.
On Eminence's side, Sophia Saucerman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jillian Henderson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Emmalin Dittemore was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Eastern Greene didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-2 defeat against Orleans on the 21st. Eminence has also already played their next matchup (against Greencastle), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
