Basketball Recap: Wheatland Takes a Loss

Wheatland lost against Gering back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wheatland Bulldogs fell 55-43 to the Gering Bulldogs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Wheatland came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 31st in Wyoming, while Gering is ranked 152nd in Nebraska).

Wheatland has also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Gering, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.

Wheatland has already played their next game (against Lander Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Gering has already played their next matchup, a 69-21 win against Gordon-Rushville on the 17th.
