Softball Preview: Liberty Lancers vs. Vista Ridge Wolves
Liberty hasn't had much luck against Vista Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Liberty Lancers' homestand will continue as they prepare to take on the Vista Ridge Wolves at 3:30 p.m. Liberty knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten run or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Vista Ridge likes a good challenge.
On Tuesday, Liberty made easy work of Fountain-Fort Carson and carried off a 13-3 victory. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by nine runs or more this season.
Liberty got a great performance from Layla North as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. North has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Graham, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Terika Rubiero, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Vista Ridge came up short against Pueblo West on Tuesday and fell 10-5.
