Pineville faced Jena in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Rebels' pitcher stepped up to hand the Giants a 1-0 shutout. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Rebels have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

The result came thanks to Addalyn Burch's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mallory Edwards, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Pineville pushed their record up to 29-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Jena, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pineville will head out to take on Natchitoches Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chiefs have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Jena, they will venture away from home to face off against Ouachita Parish at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Giants' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
