Basketball Recap: Pendleton Heights Starts Season with Win Against Westfield

Pendleton Heights took care of business in their home opener on Saturday. They strolled past the Westfield Shamrocks with points to spare, taking the game 65-51. This was payback for the Arabians, who suffered a 53-46 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Pendleton Heights' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adah Hupfer, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Hupfer has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 27 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubree Warfel, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Pendleton Heights was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westfield only racked up eight.

Westfield's loss came despite strong showings from Gabby Bassett and Lillian Clark. Bassett went 6-for-14 to rack up 16 points, while Clark put up 14 points. Audra Parker was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Pendleton Heights has already played their next game, a 62-31 victory against New Castle on the 11th. As for Westfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-39 defeat against Lawrence Central on the 12th.
