Cesar Cano Crosses Big Stat Threshold

On Friday, Lexington got the W thanks in part to Cesar Cano playing the best football he has all season. Cano rushed for 286 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.6 yards per carry. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (129.5).

Lexington moved to 1-5 with that win, which also ended their 14-game losing streak. Cano and Lexington will face off against Gering at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Nate Kelley posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (104.8). He didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles and defended a pass.

If history really does repeat itself, Kelley might just drop another big game when he faces off against Hastings on Friday. Kelley rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns the last time he and the Tigers duked it out back in October of 2023.

Tucker Synek's Big Game Leads Hastings over Mccook

Hastings picked up their third consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Tucker Synek. Synek did his part (and then some), throwing for 337 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73% of his passes, and also punching in a rushing score for the 'W'.

For the season, Synek has thrown 11 touchdowns while averaging 236.8 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging two rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging nine rushing yards.
