Basketball Recap: Anna-Jonesboro Finds Playoff Glory Versus Carterville

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Anna-Jonesboro had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They managed a 39-33 win over the Carterville Lions. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Lions back in December of 2024, they had to take a 52-45 loss.

Carterville's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maya Toliver, who went 7-for-10 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Toliver now owns an excellent 45.4% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Emma Rogers, who posted six points and ten boards.

The victory (which was Anna-Jonesboro's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-20. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.2 points. As for Carterville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-20.

Anna-Jonesboro has already played their next match, a 61-35 defeat against Vienna on the 17th. Carterville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
