Baseball Recap: Ozark Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

After flying high against Joplin last Tuesday, Ozark came back down to earth. The Tigers fell 6-2 to the Springfield Catholic Fighting Irish on Wednesday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Irish apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Brock Benson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March.

Ozark's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4. As for Springfield Catholic, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ozark will welcome Neosho at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Springfield Catholic, they will face off against Fair Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
