Basketball Preview: Munroe Bobcats vs. Wakulla War Eagles
The Munroe Bobcats will face off against the Wakulla War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Munroe's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
It was a proper cat-fight when Munroe took on St. John Paul II on Tuesday. Munroe walked away with a 61-48 win over St. John Paul II.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Munroe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Antwon West, who posted ten points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zelden Chukes, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Wakulla played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 71-25 loss at the hands of Madison County. The War Eagles haven't had much luck with the Cowboys recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the loss, Wakulla saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brian Ford went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points.
Wakulla's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Munroe, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Munroe against Wakulla in their previous meeting back in December of 2020, as the team secured a 77-42 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Wakulla's Desmond Greene, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten boards.
