Baseball Game Preview: Houston Academy Raiders vs. Pike Liberal Arts Patriots

For the second straight game, Houston Academy will face off against Pike Liberal Arts. The Raiders will be playing at home against the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Houston Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Houston Academy earned a 6-1 win over Pike Liberal Arts. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Houston Academy got a great performance from Cooper Powell as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The Raiders are 5-2 when Powell allows three or fewer earned runs, but 5-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ty Morris, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Houston Academy's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 3-1 (and 7-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Harrison Milanowski, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Pike Liberal Arts and nudges their season record down to 11-14. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Houston Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.
