2A-2 Region IV District 15 recap October 8, 2013
Stockdale's Matt Valadez rumbled for the longest rushing play in 2A-2 Region IV District 15 this season in his game against Natalia last week. Valadez scampered for 67 yards on the play and finished with 420 on the day as his team beat the Mustangs.
Dilley moved up to 667 from 748 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Wolves climbed the ranks as a result of topping Nixon-Smiley 21-14.
Valadez was a beast in the backfield as Stockdale bested Natalia.
Valadez provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Josh West's team topped Chad Graves' team.
Valadez was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 420 yards on 19 carries as the Brahmas bested the Mustangs. Christian Segura also contributed to the rushing game with 60 yards on the ground.
Natalia's Erik Villareal and Arturo Contreras have formed a dream team this season, leading 2A-2 Region IV District 15 in both passing and receiving yards. Villareal has thrown for 345 yards this season, while Contreras has 8 catches for 104 yards. Stockdale's Valadez leads the league in rushing yards with 1,197.
The Brahmas' offense has recorded 115 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Mustangs have permitted only 75 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Stockdale takes on Nixon-Smiley. The Brahmas are currently in fourth, while James Duprie's team is in second.
Stockdale took down the Mustangs 40-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Valadez in the win.
