Baseball Game Preview: Lowell Devils vs. Oakridge Warriors

The Lowell Devils will challenge the Oakridge Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lowell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Lowell is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Umpqua Valley Christian just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 8-3 to the Monarchs.

Lowell saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Barrett Straight, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another was Jamar Thurman, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Oakridge came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 12-9 win over the Oakers. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Oakridge pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Lowell, their loss dropped their record down to 14-4.

Lowell was able to grind out a solid victory over Oakridge in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 7-4. Will the Devils repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
