Baseball Recap: Estacada Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

The matchup between Estacada and Woodburn on Wednesday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Rangers walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Bulldogs. While the Rangers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Connor Crawford was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Crawford was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Davin Olson and Paul Ables did most of the damage at the plate: Olson scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Ables scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Dane Carpenter was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Estacada is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Woodburn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Estacada will venture away from home to challenge Seaside at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Woodburn, they will face off against Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Panthers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
