Preview: Wesclin Warriors vs. Gibault Catholic Hawks
Wesclin is on a five-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Gibault Catholic a four-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Wesclin Warriors will be home for the holidays to greet the Gibault Catholic Hawks at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Saturday, Wesclin was beaten by Greenville 44-17. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wesclin has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Gibault Catholic was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 36-32 to Red Bud.
Gibault Catholic's defeat came about despite a quality game from Myah Ticer, who scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Karmon Grohmann, who scored five points.
Wesclin's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Gibault Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Wesclin didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Gibault Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 59-55 victory. Does Wesclin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gibault Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
