Baseball Recap: Resurrection Christian Beats Platte Valley for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Resurrection Christian owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. Everything went their way against the Platte Valley Broncos as they made off with an 8-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won four games in a row.

Vaughn Green made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Resurrection Christian got a big performance out of Brayden MacAlmon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, MacAlmon posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Weston Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Resurrection Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Resurrection Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Platte Valley, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-5.

Coming up, Resurrection Christian is taking a road trip to challenge Weld Central at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Platte Valley, they will face off against Liberty Common at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Broncos are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
