High school football in Texas is not just an extracurricular sport.

It's a defining aspect of the culture and a way of life, especially in a small town like Aledo, just 25 minutes west of Fort Worth.

The mighty Bearcats have won six state titles, including five in the last seven years, so calling the team dominant almost seems like an understatement.

In 2013, Aledo made national headlines when the undefeated Bearcats beat Fort Worth's Western Hills 91-0. A parent of a player from the opposing team filed a bullying charge with the school district. The charge was ultimately dismissed, and national sentiment seemed to side with Aledo.

But the incident was a brief snapshot of the powerhouse program the school has built in a relatively short time.

Aledo, the town, the team and their dream, will be the focus of a new, original documentary series called Titletown, TX, from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Video journalists Jared L. Christopher and Jessica Koscielniak will chronicle the No. 1 ranked Aldeo team's quest for another state title, as it tries to rebound from a devastating 42-21 state semifinal loss to Mansfield's Lake Ridge in 2015.

The pressure is on, especially for senior quarterback Dillon Davis, whose brothers all led Aledo teams to state titles, and Top 10 recruit Chuck Filiaga, who moved to Texas from California and will play his senior season as a Bearcat.

Titletown, TX, will be about football, for sure, but it will be about much more.
