Soccer Game Preview: Westlake vs. Rockwall-Heath

The Westlake Chaparrals will challenge the Rockwall-Heath Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Last Friday, it was close, but Westlake sidestepped Reagan for a 2-1 win. Given the Chaparrals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Rattlers are ranked 277th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nicolas Mieres and Logan Thomson scored both of Westlake's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Meanwhile, Rockwall-Heath waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their defense stepped up to hand the Raiders a 1-0 shutout. Give the Hawks' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Rockwall-Heath pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four matchups. As for Westlake, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2-2 record this season.
