Monett hadn't done well against Lamar recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cubs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tigers 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Monett had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 24-26, 25-22, 26-24, 15-11.

Peyton Brandt paced Monett's offense, picking up 21 kills. Brandt got some help from Morgan Wright and her 47 assists. Carsyn Goetz controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Monett's win bumped their record up to 20-6-1. As for Lamar, their defeat ended a ten-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-8-3.

Monett does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lamar, they will be playing at home against Adrian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
