Baseball Recap: J.H. Rose Beats West Carteret for Their Fourth Straight Victory

J.H. Rose won the last time they faced West Carteret and things went their way on Wednesday too. The J.H. Rose Rampants blew past the West Carteret Patriots 11-1. The Rampants might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by eight runs or more this season.

J.H. Rose got a great performance from Caleb Grandy as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Ahmad Abulatifa and Joyner Haddock did most of the damage at the plate: Abulatifa went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Haddock went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Abulatifa a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Watson, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

J.H. Rose always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Carteret only posted an OBP of .294.

The victory (which was J.H. Rose's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for West Carteret, they dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, J.H. Rose is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against Perquimans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Perquimans knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five games -- so hopefully J.H. Rose likes a good challenge. As for West Carteret, they will be playing at home against New Bern at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
