Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Mansfield Cougars vs. Colchester Lakers

The Mt. Mansfield Cougars will challenge the Colchester Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Mt. Mansfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: South Burlington, who was ranked tenth at the time (Mt. Mansfield was ranked fifth). Mt. Mansfield took a 58-43 bruising from South Burlington on Friday. The match marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Colchester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 48-40 defeat to Lyndon Institute.

Mt. Mansfield's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Colchester, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Mt. Mansfield came up short against Colchester when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 61-57. Can Mt. Mansfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
