Soccer Game Preview: El Segundo vs. Mira Costa

El Segundo is 1-7-1 against Mira Costa since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The El Segundo Eagles will be playing at home against the Mira Costa Mustangs at 5:00 p.m.

El Segundo is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of California's top teams: Redondo Union, who was ranked tenth at the time (El Segundo was ranked 24th). El Segundo took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Redondo Union on Tuesday. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Mira Costa came tearing into Friday's game with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.1 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Sea Kings by a score of 3-1. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly two goals.

They hit Palos Verdes with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Rowan Rawal, Trenton Zimmermann, and Devin Diba.

Mira Costa's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those six contests. As for El Segundo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-3-1.
