Lakewood has gone 8-2 against Boca Ciega recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lakewood Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Boca Ciega Pirates at 8:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Lakewood's tournament run continued when they took on East Lake on Saturday. Lakewood fell 64-54 to East Lake. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Eagles are ranked 85th).

Meanwhile, Boca Ciega suffered their closest defeat since January 31, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate by a score of 47-44.

Lakewood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Boca Ciega, they dropped their record down to 9-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Lakewood didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Boca Ciega in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 51-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakewood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
