Baseball Recap: Mauldin Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mauldin can now relate to. They came up short against the Boiling Springs Bulldogs on Monday, falling 12-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Mavericks, who until this game were averaging 3.93 runs allowed.

Mauldin got a good showing from Noah Cashin, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Cashin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mauldin saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reece Sherman, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Mauldin has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-13 record this season. As for Boiling Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.

Mauldin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Boiling Springs, they will face off against Blythewood at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bengals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
