Softball Recap: Charlotte Country Day School Takes a Loss

If Charlotte Country Day School was riding high fresh off their 14-4 takedown of Ambassador Christian School last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers fell just short of the Hickory Grove Christian Lions by a score of 12-11 on Thursday. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Kate Proffitt and Molly Moran did some serious damage despite the final result: Proffitt scored three runs while going 4-for-5, while Moran went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The dominant performance gave Moran a new career-high in RBI. Sarielle Little was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Charlotte Country Day School's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2. As for Hickory Grove Christian, their record now sits at 4-1.

Looking ahead, Charlotte Country Day School is taking a road trip to square off against Metrolina Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Charlotte Country Day School is facing Metrolina Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Metrolina Christian Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Greater Cabarrus S at 4:30 p.m. Hickory Grove Christian has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
