Football Recap: Terrance Taylor Jr Key Part of Team Effort in Gators Win

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Island Coast brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They had just enough and edged out the Ida Baker Bulldogs 40-37. The victory continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Island Coast's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terrance Taylor Jr, who threw for 371 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt. Those 371 passing yards gave Taylor Jr a new career-high. Island Coast's leading receiver Christian Henderson was Taylor Jr's top target yet again, picking up 158 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Island Coast didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Samuel Exama, Donaven Harlow, and Curtis Walton Jr picked up one apiece.

Despite the loss, Ida Baker still got an impressive performance from Nikolas Korf, who rushed for 347 yards and two scores while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. The Bulldogs are 2-1 when Korf posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-6 otherwise.

Island Coast's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Ida Baker, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

As of now, neither Island Coast nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
