Baseball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Palmer's Winning Streak

Palmer dropped their record down to 8-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wasilla Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-5 back in April.

Wyatt Beal made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Kinan Greco was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

As for Wasilla, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games.

On Wasilla's side, Camden Mette made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Mette has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Bridger Berta was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Whalen Havlerson, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Palmer will venture away from home to face off against Grace Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wasilla does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
