Basketball Recap: Lariah Spencer Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hale County

Central posted their closest win since December 29, 2023 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 victory over the Hale County Wildcats. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in December of 2024, they had to take a 48-45 loss.

Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lariah Spencer out in front who went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points and five boards. Nyashia Stanton was another key player, going 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Hale County still got an impressive performance from Lailah Hill, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. That's the most rebounds Hill has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Azariae Rhodes, who posted eight points and five boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Central and bumps their season record up to 16-10. As for Hale County, they moved to 17-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As for Hale County, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Hale County Wildcats duke it out with the Sumter Central Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hale County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season.
