Recap: Morro Bay Pirates vs. Lompoc Braves

The Morro Bay Pirates's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lompoc and snuck past 49-47. For Morro Bay, this counts as revenge for the 74-41 loss Lompoc walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.

Morro Bay was led to victory by Justin Campbell and Sergio Mendoza. Campbell scored 19 points along with five rebounds, while Mendoza scored 16 points along with three steals. Mendoza continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Martinez, who scored three points along with five rebounds.

The victory got Morro Bay back to even at 4-4. As for Lompoc, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Morro Bay will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Stone Ridge Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Stone Ridge Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. Lompoc won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mission College Prep at 6:30 p.m. on December 14th. Mission College Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
