Basketball Game Preview: Madison Warhawks vs. Mira Mesa Marauders

The Madison Warhawks will take on the Mira Mesa Marauders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Madison is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Mission Bay just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 69-49 to the Buccaneers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warhawks have suffered since November 29, 2024.

Meanwhile, Mira Mesa posted their closest victory since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-44 win over Scripps Ranch. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Falcons are ranked 434th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Madison's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7. As for Mira Mesa, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-3.

Madison came out on top in a nail-biter against Mira Mesa in their previous matchup on January 10th, sneaking past 55-53. Does Madison have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mira Mesa turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
