Providence came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Austin Eagles 41-26. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Eagles are ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Providence pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points over those games. As for Austin, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Looking ahead, Providence will take on Jennings County at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Jennings County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Providence likes a good challenge. As for Austin, they will face off against Eastern at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
