Softball Recap: Midway Has No Trouble Against Miami

Midway made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Miami, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Vikings put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 16-6 win on Wednesday. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 25-14 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Lannie Rambler, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Laicey Anderson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Midway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Midway's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Miami, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Midway will welcome Liberal at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Miami, they will head out on the road to take on Hume at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season.
