Baseball Recap: Skaneateles Lakers vs. Marcellus Mustangs
After flying high against Mexico on Thursday, Skaneateles came back down to earth. The Lakers took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marcellus Mustangs on Friday. The Lakers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Sean Olley was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hugh Carroll made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Cody Crane also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Skaneateles' record now sits at 3-5. As for Marcellus, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-7-1 record.
While Skaneateles had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
