Softball Game Preview: Caroline Cavaliers vs. Culpeper County Blue Devils

The Caroline Cavaliers will face off against the Culpeper County Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Caroline will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Caroline's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Chancellor 19-0. Considering the Cavaliers have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Raegan Luck made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Caroline got a massive performance out of Adrianna Witkowski, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Witkowski a new career-high. Jordyn Wilkerson was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Caroline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Culpeper County came up short against Spotsylvania on Thursday, falling 11-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.

Caroline's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Culpeper County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Everything went Caroline's way against Culpeper County when the teams last played last Monday, as Caroline made off with a 12-0 win. Do the Cavaliers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
