Westlake extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-15 in the process. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lone Peak Knights. If the Thunder were looking for revenge after losing 5-2 to the Knights when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Efrain Garcia was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Teegan Adams was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
As for Lone Peak, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
On Lone Peak's side, Luke Christensen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Christensen also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lone Peak is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-10 otherwise. Christensen was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Bowen Barnes was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Cathey, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
While Westlake had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
