Soccer Game Preview: Woodward vs. Weatherford

Woodward is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They are taking a road trip to square off against the Weatherford Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Woodward's last five games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Last Saturday, Woodward didn't have quite enough to beat Bethany and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Weatherford put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Duncan a 3-0 shutout. Considering Weatherford have won eight matches by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Duncan with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Braelee Epp, Macy Clark, and Ruby Wright.

Weatherford's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Woodward, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Woodward couldn't quite get it done against Weatherford in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Boomers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
