Baseball Game Preview: East Forsyth Eagles vs. Southwest Guilford Cowboys

The East Forsyth Eagles will square off against the Southwest Guilford Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as East Forsyth comes in on seven and Southwest Guilford on five.

East Forsyth made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mount Tabor, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 14-1 victory on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Grimsley typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Southwest Guilford proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Whirlies 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cowboys have posted against the Whirlies since March 11, 2020.

The result came thanks to Graham Sutherland's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

East Forsyth's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Southwest Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

East Forsyth skirted past Southwest Guilford 9-8 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
